LBG Studio Bag

I ordered this awesome bag from Vanessa of LGB Studio a week or so ago and I absolutely LOVE it. As well as being gorgeous, it's practical and made from a recycled blanket - what more could I ask for. See that little pocket in the photo, my phone goes in there! I know I make much of this but honestly I don't think I have ever actually answered my phone, I always have to call back because I can't find it, until now that is. And I know lots of other bags have pockets for phones but I just never used them before, I don't know why. So thank you so much Vanessa. Super Happy Girl

As promised here is the next doll I wanted to try, she's so so happy, what a smile! She's from a pattern called Just Say Cheese, by Oh sew Dollin. She's pretty awesome actually, I like her. She's hanging out over at my etsy shop. Still keen to have a go at my own pattern though, I want to try the felt hair look next.

vintage apron, gnome softie and rag doll

I have been doing some really fun sewing projects lately. First is a classic apron in some great vintage fabric that I got from the Love Vintage Fair. It was nice to go back to a basic design, practical and beautiful. 

Then I got all excited about making a rag doll from Angry Chickens rag doll pattern. I'm not a doll person and I don't have a little girl  to make one for (my 14yr old loves the doll but you know) but I have to say I have a fondness for this doll that I didn't expect. 

I enjoyed making her so much that I decided to try a few more patterns, the first is a gnome from here, and next is another style of doll from here. I would like to make my own pattern soon as I get some of the doll making skills under my belt. 

Both the apron and the gnome are available from my esty shop.

I really shouldn't be sewing at all as we are moving house soon and I really need to get some packing done. I am a great one for leaving such things to the last minute though and it always works out fine so whatever.

 

Love Vintage Fair Bangalow

Mia and I mozzied over to the Love Vintage Fair in Bangalow over the weekend. It was held in the A & I Hall which is absolutely gorgeous. Bangalow is about a 15 minute drive inland from Byron Bay, a very pretty town. They had some really fun demonstrations of vintage hair and make-up styles. These fairs are held in other towns around the country, check out the website, there is one coming up in October in Sydney.

I could have spent a lot of money here but I didn't have a lot so I narrowed it down to some sweet vintage fabric and a cuter than cute apron.

new cushions

I have been making some new cushions for my neglected etsy shop. These are so much fun to make, they are quick and really so cute. I used a chenille bedspread for the back. I really love chenille, I love the super cottony feel it has and it reminds me of my gramdma's house when I was little. She had chenille bed spreads on the beds in the guest room (that's a thing of the past!), they were a moss green and I would sit on the floor by the bed and untwist all the fringing. I guess she wasn't too happy about it but she never said anything. In fact I have a moss green chenille bed spread at the moment that I havn't used because I keep thinking the colour is yuck but now that I have re-kindled that memory I'm liking it all over again. Oh how I loved my grandma's house.
